Joy Banner and a Christmas Stocking

I made a paper joy banner to go on the shutters on my mantle , this is a very simple little banner but looks cute on the shutters next to my Scottish Santa I picked up a few years ago. I am very into my Scottish heritage and this santa had to go home with me along with some Scottish nutcrackers that I just love LOL.

I have been making so many stockings this year my 3 year old decided she needed a new "Socky" like some of the ones I made for a girlfriends kids. She carried me this santa fabric and declared it was hers so I finished it up yesterday and she is in love! This is the first year she is really understanding Christmas and has declared every night for a week it is Santa night. She is still a little young yet to understand the true meaning of Christmas but she knows there are gonna be presents, too much fun!

I was playing on picnik the other day, cause ya'll know I take the worlds worst pictures, and made this little collage. This is my little ladybug at the zoo last month and I just love how it came out! She was having an absolute blast with all the animal statues they had !

New Pillows

Made some pillows yesterday for an order and I am very pleased with how they turned out, just wish I could get a picture that looked good. I had made this set with red embroidery and these were requested with pink embroidery. May do some more in other colors too!

Made a burlap pillow too for kicks, hey one cannot get enough burlap right now eh?

Burlap Wreath Love with mini tutorial

I can remember burlap wreaths when I was a child in the seventies. Been trying to recall how they looked so I could make one with a Shabby Chic look. So after much thought , OK not that much, this is what I came up with.
I cut out four two yard long lengths of burlap about 6 inches wide each and looped them back and forth on a wire coat hanger.
Then when all were on the hanger, I joined the ends of the hanger to make a circle.
Then I tore some strips of muslin for a bow and tied it on.

Kinda fun huh and too easy

Stuffies

Was playing around today and made a couple of stuffies or whatever you wanna call em. They were fun and a good break from all the Christmas stockings I have been making the last week, getting burned out on those.

Feather Angels revisited

Getting ready for Christmas, my fav holiday of all! Got the tree up and some ornaments on but will go all out in a few more days once Ladybug decides to leave the ornaments on the tree LOL.

Decided to make some feather angel ornaments this morning

First image is one I made today the updated version, the second image is one I made twenty years ago. I cannot decide if I like the new ones better than the old ones but they are both cute in their own ways. Updated I decided to paint little faces on the new angels like the older version , my oldest daughter decided they had to have faces - I think she was right

Coffee Filter Garland

I have been wanting to make a coffee filter garland ever since I saw the ones from Pam Garrison http://pamgarrison.typepad.com/ , so a few weeks ago I coffee dyed (didn't have and tea bags LOL) a pile of coffee filters and began! Pam used lots of different papers but I just used coffee filters on this one. I strung them on my trusty hemp string and then hung it across my new favorite piece of furniture the china cabinet I found on craigslist for 100 dollars! This garland was too much fun to make and oh so cheap too! Got a bunch more coffee filters ready to go for more garlands I am thinking of a really long one maybe for Christmas! Been making other things with the coffee filters too but will save those for later!

Fall Mantle

Today I decided to decorate my mantle for Fall, let me first say I never change the mantle out because I have such a hard time with this giant brick fireplace. However I picked up some white shutters at Habitat a couple weeks ago to help add some height and visual interest against all that brick. So I shopped the house and this is what I came up with. I see in the photo I really need to clean that little mirror the flash sure picked that up...arg... The brass items are from my grandparents home and I remember them always being on their hearth growing up, I am told they are Conquistador stirrups. I made the FALL banner out of burlap and hemp string, just rough cut the burlap into four 5x6 pieces and stenciled the letters on using a black paint pen. Then zigzagged around the edges to keep the rectangles from fraying too bad. Then tied them together with hemp string. So easy and so much fun. I am hearting burlap this fall!!!
