Fun With Coupons

I have been gone for a long time, so I am going to try and revamp this blog and start fresh. I am not really sure what my focus will be (probably never will LOL). So here goes a bit of some fun I have been having lately. I am new to this whole couponing thing, but I am learning and having a lot of fun saving money. Today I tried couponing at Harris Teeter and think that I did well. Spent a total of 12 dollars after coupons, sales and eVic! By my calculations I saved about 66% off the total.

Here is my haul!

Kitchen Makeover !!!

When we bought this house five years I wasn't too sure about this kitchen.
The walls and cabinets are made from solid pine paneling original to the home.
The previous owner had primed and painted everything white thank goodness or it would have been a dungeon.
However everything in this kitchen but the floors and counter top was white down to the sink and light fixtures.
So we have slowly been making some changes. The most major has been replacing the old appliances with stainless ones, squealsss!
My husband replaced the sink and faucet a few years back and was that a story in itself, I think there were no less than fours trips to the hardware store that day LOL.
I recently decided to paint the cabinets and decided upon a green color and the walls under the cabinets the palest shade of yellow.
The kitchen did not originally have an island cabinet found one on Craigslist for a hundred bucks! Someone was remodeling a nearly brand new kitchen and parting out the cabinets I think we racked up. The island is laminated so I just left it white and I guess that's OK
. Above the cabinets was flat but as I really didn't want to put up a wallpaper border as had been up there previously I ended up using wood appliques. The appliques added a shabby chic cottagy kinda charm the kitchen seemed to need.
Then I dug out my grandmothers black trivets and the pot rack that hung in my childhood home for many years.
I am very pleased with how it turned out! I cannot find the before pictures think they are on my last computer which suffered a tragic hard drive death....

Max and his little girl

We adopted a seven year old Golden Retriever Named Max right before Christmas and he quickly became Emmy's best buddy. He is the most laid back fellow and is quite tolerant of being dressed up as a tiger or more often than not a pack horse. She loads him up with blankets and he roams around the house loaded down LOL! Max is such a sweetie we are all thrilled to have him join the family!

Getting my Valentines on! I have been cranking out embroidered pillows for the shop.
Here are just a few of the pillows I have made in the last two weeks

I really like this guilt free chocolate pillow!

and last but not least I made this necklace last night from some gorgeous taffeta ribbon and buttons and seed pearls.
I haven't made one quite like this before but have been doing ribbonwork for many years. I am really loving this necklace, thinking I may do one with violets next cause I so heart violets!

Joy Banner and a Christmas Stocking

I made a paper joy banner to go on the shutters on my mantle , this is a very simple little banner but looks cute on the shutters next to my Scottish Santa I picked up a few years ago. I am very into my Scottish heritage and this santa had to go home with me along with some Scottish nutcrackers that I just love LOL.

I have been making so many stockings this year my 3 year old decided she needed a new "Socky" like some of the ones I made for a girlfriends kids. She carried me this santa fabric and declared it was hers so I finished it up yesterday and she is in love! This is the first year she is really understanding Christmas and has declared every night for a week it is Santa night. She is still a little young yet to understand the true meaning of Christmas but she knows there are gonna be presents, too much fun!
